PREVENTING playful puppies from turning into unmanageable dogs can be achieved with the help of puppy school programs, which teach old-fashioned good manners.

DogTech® will be offering these classes at Scarborough from mid-August,  to help put puppies on the right track.

Master Franchisee for Queensland Justin Jordan said the main focus of the courses was socialization of puppies towards people and other dogs and to ensure they became a ‘happy, stable member of the family’.

He said puppies learnt the most from eight weeks to 18 weeks of age.

‘Puppies are in a crucial imprinting stage at that age,’ he said.

DogTech® puppy schools use motivational methods to cover basic obedience and behavioural issues, as well as introducing puppies to babies and children.

Mr. Jordan said some of the most important lessons to teach a pup included not running through doors/gates or jumping up on people, basic good manners, toilet training and being social with guests and unfamiliar pets.
