Testimonial

DOGTECH ACT

I leave the testimony of my appreciation for the work carried out by Mr Sean Ehlers, Behavioural Dog Training Instructor for Dogtech … with ‘Toto’ – a Labrador.

‘Toto’ is an essentially good-natured dog that was nevertheless very possessive and protective at home, with the consequence that he was very aggressive with total strangers and other dogs, mistrusting any person outside his ‘pack’.

He is a very big and heavy dog (42kg), being thus originally very difficult to control.  Since Labradors are normally considered to be easy-going and he looks particularly nice and friendly, his possible aggressive reaction towards sudden extraneous human appearances or not expected petting could eventually make him a wholly anti-social animal, under the cloak of an apparently docile pet, and this worried us very much.

Through several sessions at his place of residence and with several long walks in more populated areas, Sean gradually introduced my dog to a more convivial behaviour, reducing his anxiety, calming his attitude towards people and other dogs, making him more obedience and easy to walk, as well as more able to enjoy participating in the social interaction of his ‘pack’, without worrying us about an eventual quirky reaction against an unknown individual or animal.

Mr Ehlers has given not only proof of being a good specialist in dog training but also an instructor knowledgeable in many psychological aspects of the dog owners themselves, taking even into account their cultural differences with the Australian life-style and – most important of all – making them understand the practical essentials of obedience instruction.  I sincerely commend his work.
